FAQs
What kind of data can I expect to read from a Modulino® Thermo?
The Modulino® Thermo node provides you with two primary environmental readings: relative humidity, indicating the amount of moisture in the air, and temperature, measuring the ambient heat level.
Has the Modulino® Thermo changed?
Yes. The latest revision of Modulino® Thermo uses the GXHT30C temperature and humidity sensor, replacing the HS3003 used in the first version. You’ll get the same temperature and humidity readings, but the I2C address and minimum library version have changed (see below).
How can I tell which version of Modulino® Thermo I have?
On the back of the Modulino® Thermo node, you’ll find the name of the sensor printed on the board: HS3003 on the original version, GXHT30C on the new version. You can also run an I2C scanner sketch: the original version responds at address 0x44, and the new version responds at 0x45 by default.
What is the I2C address of the Modulino® Thermo?
Original version (HS3003): 0x44 (fixed)
New version (GXHT30C): 0x45 by default. The sensor can also be set to 0x44 using the solder jumper, but we recommend keeping 0x45 if you’re using the Modulino® library (see below).
Which library version do I need for the new Modulino® Thermo?
You need the Modulino® library version 0.10.0 or later. Earlier versions only recognize the original HS3003 version at 0x44 and won’t detect the new module. Update the library from the Library Manager in Arduino IDE (or your preferred environment) before using it. Version 0.10.0 and later support both the original and new versions of Modulino® Thermo, so existing projects keep working.
Can I use the new Modulino® Thermo at address 0x44?
Yes, but not with the Modulino® library. To stay compatible with the original version, the library treats any Modulino® Thermo at 0x44 as the original HS3003 version, which can lead to conflicts or incorrect readings with the new sensor. If you choose 0x44, use a standalone library for the GXHT30C sensor instead.
Is a Qwiic cable included with the Modulino® node?
Yes, each Modulino® node is packaged with a 5 cm Qwiic cable, so you can get started right away.
Are the Modulino® nodes compatible with other Qwiic devices?
Yes, the Modulino® nodes are designed to be compatible with other devices that adhere to the Qwiic standard and operate at 3.3V. Always double-check the voltage compatibility of any Qwiic devices you intend to use together.
What voltage do the Modulino® nodes operate at?
The Modulino® nodes are designed to operate at 3.3V. Ensure that your microcontroller or other Qwiic devices provide this voltage level to avoid damage.
